Williams County Communications Agency (WCCA)

The Williams County Communications Agency (WCCA) is the hub of public safety for Williams County. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is the answering and dispatching point for 7 village Police Departments, the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williams County EMS, and 9 village and township Fire Departments. WCCA is Williams County’s primary 911 answering point and the answering point for all cellular 911 calls in Williams County. It also provides after hours service for:

  • County Engineer and Highway
  • Dog Warden
  • Humane Society offices
  • Job and Family Services
  • Victim Assistance
  • Williams County’s Juvenile Probation

Williams County Emergency Management (EMA)

The Williams County Emergency Management (EMA) agency shares office space and personnel with the Williams County Communications Agency. EMA is responsible for planning, mitigation, response and recovery of any large-scale emergencies or disasters in Williams County. In the event of any large-scale emergency or disaster, the EMA will open an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) within their facility. Officials from village, township, county and state agencies will convene to direct operations at the EOC.

911 Services

Williams County has been online with 911 services since May 1991 and has provided Phase II wireless 911 services since November 2008. All landline/wired 911 calls from county residences are immediately routed to the Williams County Communications Center. All landline/wired 911 calls from within the city limits of Bryan, OH, are routed to the Bryan Police Department. In the event of equipment failure or volume overload, both agencies are designed to provide a backup system for each other.

Enhanced 911 System

Williams County is served by an Enhanced 911 system. The name, address, and telephone number of the telephone used to dial 911 is displayed on a computer screen at WCCA if a traditional, wired telephone was used to make the call. Additionally, the location is plotted on a map at each dispatch position at WCCA.
