The Williams County Veterans Service Commission will work to assure that veterans and their dependents receive the federal, state, and county benefits they deserve for their service and sacrifice to our Nations Armed Forces and that all work is provided in a timely manner and with dignity, honor and respect.
About the Veterans Service commission
Each county in the state of Ohio is required to establish a Veterans Service Commission (VSC) under the provisions of the Ohio Revised Code, Title 59. This law has been in existence since 1886. The Commission oversees the operation of the Veterans Service Office. The VSC hires necessary staff to oversee the day to day operation of the office.
Since 1946, the commission has employed County Veterans Service Officers who assist in applying for any federal, state or county benefit to which a veteran or his/her surviving spouse is entitled. In addition to the basic services outlined, the Veterans Service Office also works closely with various other agencies, both in the county and elsewhere, to ensure that eligible clients receive all of the benefits and services to which they are entitled.
